Apparently Tuo Jiaxi won in a not very normal way against Fan Tingyu in the first round of the latest Mingren tournament, and the subsequent game between Tuo Jiaxi and Meng Tailing was postponed. Is there a story here? I hope it is not too dramatic towards the players concerned. Thank you for an answer!
Kind regards,
Paul
Nothing to worry about. Tuo Jiaxi won the round 1 game because his opponent had a medical condition. The round 2 game between Tuo Jiaxi and Meng Tailing was played. It is reported to be a very exciting game with lengthy ko fight. I guess there's something wrong with recording the game. However I am not worried - Meng Tailing always record his own games properly and analyse them in his programme with 'weiqitv'. So that game record will eventually become available.
What a pity! Of course not only for the tournament, but I assume this is not something Ke Jie would have liked to happen, him having quite a chance to end high: I hope he is OK. What happened?
Kind regards,
Paul
It is a bit unusual that we get two forfeit games in one tournament. Ke Jie was in hospital. I guess it was just because of fatigue due to his very busy schedule.
This answer saddens me, and angers me a bit, I guess his circumstances are so unfair towards him. He has this huge, huge talent, and I feel it is exploited beyond common sense. Wouldn't it be great if he could say, in forty weeks a year I play one game a week, all the other days I need to study, relax, make sure I can still be a very good player in ten years time. With some 15% flexibility, if you get what I mean. Nobody wins if such kind of player burns out heavily. All the best to Ke Jie!
Kind regards,
Paul
